When Kieran Tierney will return for Arsenal as former Celtic star's recovery timeline revealed

Kieran Tierney is set to return to Arsenal training next week.

The Gunners favourite has been sidelined with a muscle issue in recent weeks and has missed his side's last five games.

Tierney sustained an injury to his lower right leg and fans have been eager for an update on his condition.

Arsenal have now announced he is recovering well and is expected to rejoin Mikel Arteta's squad over the next seven days.

A statement on their official website said: "Kieran is recovering well from a strain to the right lower leg and is aiming to integrate back into training next week."

But while Sunday's Premier League clash with Leeds United will come too soon for Tierney, keeper Bernd Leno and defender David Luiz are set to return to the fold after serving one-match suspensions.

Midfielder Thomas Partey, however, is out after sustaining a hamstring injury during last weekend's defeat to Aston Villa.

The statement continued: "Thomas sustained a strain to his left hamstring during last Saturday’s match at Aston Villa and will miss the match against Leeds United on Sunday. Thomas will continue to be assessed and rehabilitate from this injury."
