After Spurs and Liverpool's involvement in an all-English Champions League final last season, the Premier League's contingent in this year's competition will be optimistic about their chances of progressing through to the knockout stages.
While Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool have all made stuttering starts to the group stages, they and Manchester City will have their eyes on attempting to reach this year's final at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul - the scene of Liverpool's historic comeback against AC Milan in 2005.
Chelsea have already featured there this year, taking on Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup, which Jurgen Klopp's side won on penalties.
And the Champions League final is pencilled in for May 30, 2020 - unless UEFA decide to change the venue.
Italy's sporting minister Vincenzo Spadafora has called upon the governing body to consider moving the showpiece event due to Turkey's ongoing military action in Syria.
The Italian politician sent a letter to UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin, urging the governing body to reconsider hosting the final in Turkey.
And while UEFA have not made any formal comment on the matter, vice-president Michele Uva has told an Italian radio station that it was "absolutely premature to talk about sanctions."
However, according to Associated Press, the situation will be evaluated by UEFA's executive committee. They next meet on December 4.
Since Turkey's military action began in Syria, many of the country's athletes (including the national football team) have publicly backed the decision, saluting at sporting events.
UEFA have asked investigators to determine if the Turkish Football Federation should be charged with disciplinary action after their players made gestures amounting to political statements in their European Championship qualifiers against Albania and France.
