When it will snow in Leeds this winter - based on 100 years of weather data

Forecasters have studied 100 years of data to determine when we could see snow in Leeds this winter.

Weather site MetCheck has revealed the dates it usually snows in the city - and which date we need to prepare for the heaviest snowfall.

At the moment the weather is warmer than average for this time of year in Leeds and across much of the UK.

Some hilltops and higher ground, including the Yorkshire Dales, saw some snow in December, with snowy scenes captured in Fleet Moss and Deepdale.

But for most areas, there is no suggestion of a change to more wintry weather in the immediate forecast.

But MetCheck has outlined when we might see snow - based on analysis of 100 years of weather data.

It says January 14 to 25 usually sees snow in Leeds - and the heaviest snow is most likely to fall on January 20.

It's always best to take these forecasts with a pinch of salt. In Leeds compared to surrounding areas.
