With "Thunderbolts*", Marvel might be back in its groove. Unlike "Captain America: Brave New World", Marvel's first feature of 2025, "Thunderbolts*" has landed with a bang.
The movie hit theaters at the start of May and really landed with Marvel fans and moviegoers alike. As of our latest update, it's now raked in more than $380 million worldwide.
"Thunderbolts*" also earned winning reactions from critics and regular audience members alike. Currently, it's sitting at an 88% critics rating and 94% on the Popcornmeter over on Rotten Tomatoes.
If you're waiting for a "Thunderbolts*" streaming date — either to plan a rewatch or to check it out for the first time — we still don't have a Disney Plus date, but we do have some good news: Marvel has already put out "Thunderbolts*" to buy or rent digitally on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) storefronts.
Read on for all the latest details, including my best guess at a potential "Thunderbolts*" streaming date.
When is 'Thunderbolts' coming to streaming?
You can still watch "Thunderbolts*" on the big screen at your local cinema, but that's no longer the only way to watch the latest Marvel movie.
As of right now, you can buy or rent "Thunderbolts*" from PVOD streaming services like Amazon, Apple, Fandango or Google. Physical media fans can look forward to owning it on Blu-ray from July 29.
As for where it will arrive on streaming video-on-demand (SVOD) services, as a Marvel movie, we know that "Thunderbolts*" will be available to stream on Disney Plus when it arrives.
But currently, we don't have an official streaming date. However, I've made an educated guess at when the movie might be available to stream.
Right now, I'd guess "Thunderbolts*" will come to Disney Plus on or around Thursday, July 30, 2025.
That's 89 days after the movie's theatrical release date, and is our current guess at the "Thunderbolts*" streaming date.
I'd maybe move that guess forward ever so slightly, given that Blu-ray release date, but I'd still keep my guess in that ballpark.
That guess is based on the average wait we've had for recent Marvel releases. All of 2023's MCU entries — "Quantumania", "The Marvels", and "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" — took 89 days to come to the Disney streamer.
The wait for "Deadpool & Wolverine" was a little longer (over 100 days), but that also ended up being a $1.3 billion box office success, so it made sense to keep it in theaters as long as possible. Even though "Thunderbolts*" has done well, it's nowhere near that level of box office success.
