When does US Open men’s final start? Carlos Alcaraz v Jannik Sinner time and how to watch

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will meet again in the US Open final in New York, with more grand slam history and the World No 1 ranking on the line.

Alcaraz and Sinner are the first two men to meet in three consecutive grand slam finals in the same year in the Open era, having battled at the French Open final and the Wimbledon final this summer.

Sinner is the defending US Open champion and has won 27 matches in a row at the hard-court grand slams. The Italian defeated Alcaraz in four sets at Wimbledon to win his fourth grand slam title.

Alcaraz is out for revenge and will be looking to win his second US Open title. The Spaniard saved three match points to beat Sinner in five sets in the French Open final and will regain the World No 1 ranking if he wins his sixth grand slam title on Sunday.

Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals on Friday. Sinner returned to the final by beating Felix Auger-Aliassime, and can become the first man since Roger Federer won five in a row between 2004 and 2008 to defend the US Open.

When is Carlos Alcaraz v Jannik Sinner?

Due to additional security measures in place for the arrival of president Donald Trump, the US Open final has been delayed by at least 30 minutes.

A statement said: “As as result of the security measures in place, and to ensure that fans have additional time to get to their seats, we have pushed the start time of today's match to 2:30 p.m. ET.”

Carlos Alcaraz on both his own and Jannik Sinner's improvements over the last few years

“I think physically he has improved a lot, and that's obviously. I mean, it wasn't a secret. He has spoken about the physical conditions that he has to improve, and I think the last year, the last two years, he has improved a lot physically.

“You know, his matches are really demanding physically that he's able to play at his 100% during two, three, four hours, and I think that's the biggest improvement he has made in the last years.

“For me, I think the consistency and not having the up-and-downs in the matches. Off the court, I just improve a lot, and I realize how important it is to take care all the details just to be perfect. I think that that was my biggest improvement.”

Jannik Sinner on rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz

“Yeah, on court we like to see each other, you know, because it means that considering our ranking, it means that we are doing well in the tournament.

“Off court we bump into each other at times. I don't know if we are happy or not (smiling), but no, I think it's great. As I always say, we have a great relationship also off the court, and everything is fine, you know, between him and me and also all teams. You know, my team and their team, we are just working hard, but in the same time we are also normal, normal people. It's great. So, yeah, I'm looking forward to it.”
