When is The Snowman - and The Snowman and The Snowdog - on TV?

Mince pies, sherry, The Snowman.

They're Christmas traditions for many a family.

And there's the bonus of The Snowman and The Snowdog.

But when are they on this year?

The classic animation - first shown on December 26, 1982 - is based on Raymon Briggs 1978 picture book and follows a young boy whose snowman comes to life.

They embark on a magical journey to the North Pole.

The animated short was created to mark the 30th anniversary of the original release and was dedicated to the film's producer John Coates, who died in 2012.

It features The Snowdog, with mismatched socks for ears and a satsuma for a nose.

You may already have them recorded or on DVD but, if not here's when you can watch them on TV over the festive period:

The Snowman airs on Christmas Eve on Channel 4 at 3.50pm

It is then repeated on the channel on Christmas Day at 12.45pm and immediately followed by The Snowman and the Snowdog at 1.20pm.
