'The Running Man' release date: Here's when you can stream it on Paramount+

Glen Powell in The Running Man (2025).

What would you do if the entire world wanted to kill you? Could you give everyone the slip and win the massive cash prize? That's what "The Running Man" explores in a bombastic, action-packed spectacle of a movie. Directed by Edgar Wright and starring Glen Powell, "The Running Man" takes Stephen King’s original premise and updates it with bigger, bolder action for a new audience.

You can't experience Wright’s take on the dystopian action thriller at your local cinema any longer, but you can watch it at home. Here's how you can buy or rent "The Running Man" digitally to watch at home, and its streaming service release date for when you can watch it on Paramount+.

When can we expect the 'The Running Man' streaming release?

Right now, you can buy or rent "The Running Man" from premium video-on-demand (PVOD) streaming services like Amazon, Apple and Fandango at home. Or, if you have a Paramount+ subscription, you can stream "The Running Man" on Paramount+ as of Jan. 13, 2026.

What is 'The Running Man' about?

When Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is framed for a violent crime he didn’t commit, he’s thrown into the biggest show on the planet: a gladiator-style broadcast where “contestants” are hunted down for sport.

The public eats it up and finds it extremely entertaining, but Ben just wants to stay alive long enough to expose the truth behind the system that condemned him. That's not especially easy when he's surrounded by specialized killers known as Stalkers and an entire public who wants him dead.

Luckily for Ben, an underground resistance movement starts to see him as more than just another runner. But the further he gets in the competition, the more the show tries to twist the narrative against him. If he wants to survive (and maybe prove his innocence), the odds are more than stacked against him.
