During the trip the baton will spend New Year in the Maldives, Easter in Jamaica before an extended time in the UK in June.

The baton will spend five days in Wales from Wednesday, June 29 to Monday, July 4.

While specific locations have not been revealed yet the baton is expected to travel through most of Wales.

The Queen's Baton Relay was introduced at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff in 1958 and since then it has been Commonwealth tradition.

For each games the baton has a different design and for the 2022 games it was created by designers and technologists from the West Midlands.

The Queen also places a message within the baton which is not read until the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games.
