When is the next UK coronavirus lockdown review announcement?

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said last week that he will announce the government's 'road' map to easing the current lockdown measures.

Now, people up and down the country are eagerly awaiting the news.

The UK is currently approaching the end of its sixth week in lockdown.

And while a review is expected on or around May 7, any announcement will be made slightly later.

On April 30, just day after he returned to work following his own battle with coronavirus, Mr Johnson said for the first time that UK was 'past the peak' of the outbreak and said we "are on the downward slope."

He went on to say that he will set out a 'compressive' plan to explain how the government will get the economy back on track; children back to school; and people back to their workplaces.

Mr Johnson will make his speech on Sunday ahead of addressing Parliament on the issue on Monday.

A specific time hasn't been given but the government's daily press conference takes place at 4pm over the weekend.

The Prime Minister said earlier on Wednesday that measures will start to be lifted on Monday "if we possibly can".

Speaking of his plan, the PM said: "What you are going to get next week is really a road map, a menu of options – the dates and times of each individual measure will be very much driven by where we are in the epidemic, what the data is really saying and we are getting in a lot more data every day now and in the course of the next few days.

"We have come through the peak. Or rather we have come under what could have been a vast peak.

"As though we have been going through some huge Alpine tunnel. And we can now see the sunlight and the pasture ahead of us."
