When is the next travel update due from the government for holidays abroad?

While summer is officially over, travel rules for holidays abroad continue amid the pandemic.

The government's traffic light system is under constant review, with announcements on any changes to the green, amber, and red lists made every three weeks.

Ministers review the latest evidence on coronavirus, assessing which countries pose a risk to Brits wanting to jetset away.

If you're thinking of heading abroad for some autumn sun, then it's important to take note of the reviews as the system is subject to change.

But for those who are double vaccinated against Covid, there is more flexibility as jabbed travellers don't need to isolate on their return from both green and amber listed countries.

So, when is the next review?

Transport Secretary Grant Shapp 's latest announcement saw seven new countries join the green list, including Switzerland and Canada.

Thailand and Montenegro moved to the red list, while no countries were added to the amber list.

The review and subsequent changes were announced on Thursday, August 26, with effect from the following Monday on August 30.

Seeing as reviews come every three weeks and usually on a Thursday, the next travel announcement should be made on Thursday, September 16.

Grant Shapps usually confirms any changes in the evening.
