When is the next international travel review for Scotland's green, red and amber lists?

Scotland’s Covid rules on international travel will be reviewed by the Scottish Government later this month.

The last review, which was carried out last Wednesday, saw the likes of Germany, Austria and Norway move from the amber list to the green list.

Such a move means that holidaymakers arriving in Scotland from these countries will be able to bypass a period of quarantine - but they will still be required to test before and after travel.

Scots hoping for a last bit of summer sun abroad will not have long to wait until the next travel review - which is due to be released in the next couple of weeks.

Government officials on both sides of the border review restrictions on international travel every three weeks.

With the last announcement taking place on August 5, Scots can expect the next update on around Thursday, August 26.

The nations that could move onto Scotland’s green list currently remains unclear.

Ahead of the last travel review, travel consultancy firm PC Agency suggested that progress was being made on 12 destinations in the fight against coronavirus - with low case numbers and relatively high vaccination rates.

The ones that were not added on the green list were Poland, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic and Lithuania.

If the progress stays on a similar trajectory then there is a good chance that these countries could be added to the green list.

The Scottish Government is still urging Scots to exercise caution before booking any trips abroad amid the pandemic.

Guidance from the government reads: “The green, amber and red lists can change at short notice. Before you arrive in Scotland, you should check these lists and make sure you’re following the correct rules.

“If you’re planning travel, you should not assume that a country on the green, amber or red list now will remain on the same list over the weeks and months ahead. If you travel, you must follow the rules that are in place for a country or area at your time of travel.

“Travelling abroad also carries a risk of bringing new cases and variants of COVID-19 into Scotland. You should think carefully about whether your trip abroad is necessary before booking travel.”
