When is the next heatwave set to hit the UK?

  • Temperatures across England are forecast to climb again, potentially reaching 30C to 33C next week in central and southern England and parts of Wales.
  • The UK Health Security Agency has issued yellow heat health alerts for several regions, including the East Midlands , South East , and London .
  • These alerts will be in effect from 9am on Saturday, 8 August, until 9pm on Tuesday, 11 August.
  • Last month was the driest July for England and Wales since records began in 1836, with 19 counties recording minimal rainfall .
  • Previous heatwaves this summer have contributed to over 2,800 excess deaths in May and June, alongside drought conditions and wildfires.
