When is the next Covid update Scotland and what Nicola Sturgeon will confirm

Nicola Sturgeon's daily coronavirus briefings have been brought to a halt due to upcoming elections, but she will still appear on your screen to deliver important updates.

Tuesday (April 6) marked one of these updates, where the First Minister told Scots she would make an announcement on the phased return to schools for pupils.

It came after non-essential retail began to reopen on April 5, with the "stay at home" order swapped for "stay local" just days earlier. The next planned update is set to happen ahead of lockdown restrictions further easing on April 26.

What did Nicola Sturgeon say at her latest update?

The First Minister confirmed on April 6 that Scotland's high school pupils could return full-time to education after the Easter break.

Secondary students have initially only been able to spend a limited amount of time in the classroom after the Scottish Government closed schools to most pupils for a second time at the start of this year, as part of efforts to halt increasing numbers of coronavirus cases .

She also revealed that Scots are to soon have access to two lateral flow Covid tests twice a week as part of a universal testing initiative to be introduced across the country.

When is the next Covid update Scotland?

The First Minister's next Covid update is set to take place on April 26.

She said: "Now, if we do continue to keep the virus under control, as I hope we will, we expect to be able to make further significant changes on 26 April.
