When is the new Lord of the Rings series being shown on Prime?

The highly anticipated new Lord of the Rings series, which will air on Amazon Prime, has been given a release date and first look picture.

Amazon Prime has announced that the series will start on Thursday, September 2, 2022 and fans are very excited.

The Instagram post on the Lord of the Rings on Prime Instagram account that revealed the first look has gained over 100,600 likes and over 4,200 comments in just 20 hours.

The series, which is yet to be given an official name, will feature Bafta-nominated Welsh actress Morfydd Clark alongside other Welsh stars Owain Arthur and Trystan Gravelle.

The cast and crew have just finished filming in New Zealand for the series which is set to include the history of Middle-earth, with it set before the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit events.

This is the first time that J. R. R. Tolkien's work will be filmed as a TV series after a highly successful film adaptation, and the episodes will be released weekly.
