Masterchef fans were left wondering when they will get to see the final episode of the new series after it was unexpectedly pulled from the schedule on Friday night, due to the death of Prince Philip.
WQell now the BBC have finally confirmed when it will be shown.
After being gripped as contestants cooked up a storm in recent weeks and watching as things heated up in the kitchen over the past few days, millions of viewers were expected to tune into the finale at 8.30pm on Friday to see Geordie chef Tom Rhodes battle it out with Mike Tomkins and Alexina Anatole for the crown.
However, following the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh at the age of 99, the BBC made significant changes to its programming.
And, just like The One Show and EastEnders before it, the Masterchef final fell victim to the alterations to the BBC schedule, with the night dedicated to Prince Phillip.
A statement from the channel earlier in the day read: "With the sad news that HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, has died, there is now special coverage across all BBC networks to mark his life of extraordinary public service and planned scheduling has been suspended.”
Viewers had expected to be able to find out from the BBC or Masterchef's own social media channels when the final will eventually air, but, with hours to go they were still none the wiser.
Up until 6pm, the last tweet on the Masterchef UK account still read: "TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT! Who will @JohnTorode1 and @GreggAWallace be handing this trophy to? Don't miss the #MasterChefUK FINAL at 8:30pm on @BBCOne!"
But that was then followed by another just before 7pm which simply told fans: "Following today’s sad news about HRH Prince Philip, tonight’s scheduled #MasterChefUK Final has been postponed."
Well now it has been confirmed that the Masterchef final will finally air on BBC1 on Wednesday, April 14 at 8pm.
After learning the show had since been cancelled, one viewer responded to the post, asking: "Does anyone know when the final will be on as all programs are now cancelled," but another replied: "No dates been given yet!!"
Other fans weren't happy with the BBC's decision to pull Masterchef for rolling reaction to Prince Phillip's death, with one reacting: Pulling #Masterchef ridiculous. Regardless of anyone's opinion of Prince Phillip, there's no need for this.
"Surely it's enough that it'll be all over tonight's news bulletins and the BBC News channel can knock itself out with wall-to-wall coverage."
