The epic new television series The Mandalorian has finally hit UK screens.
The Star Wars franchise spin-off series began on new streaming service Disney+ on Tuesday, with the opening two instalments introducing us to a whole new bounty hunter to follow in the footsteps of Mandalorian mercenaries Jango and Boba Fett.
Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal portrays Din Djarin, the titular anti-hero who is tasked with finding a mysterious package for his equally mysterious new employer, The Client ( Werner Herzog ).
As Djarin heads out on a dangerous mission he soon finds the package is the last thing he expected it to be and a whole new odyssey begins for the haunted bounty hunter.
However, when is the new series set in the Star Wars timeline and how many episodes will there be of the new blockbuster show?
When is The Mandalorian set?
The Mandalorian takes place five years after the events of the classic Star Wars trilogy, in the aftermath of Return of the Jedi.

The story also takes place 25 years before the sequel trilogy and its opening film The Force Awakens.
The events shown follow the creation of the New Republic, even though much of the story takes place away from the galactic government's reach.
How many episodes of The Mandalorian are there?
The first season of The Mandalorian comprises of eight episodes or chapters.
