"The Long Walk" could well go down as one of the best movies of the year. Francis Lawrence's ("The Hunger Games" movies) Stephen King adaptation is a thriller that takes place in a totalitarian version of America, wherein teenage boys apply for "The Long Walk" to compete for a cash prize.
Participants are chosen at random and tasked with maintaining a walking pace of 3 miles per hour or higher on a walk that concludes when there's just one man left standing. The catch? Any boy who falls behind gets a handful of warnings ... before they're shot by the soldiers following their journey.
"The Long Walk" is a brutal, gripping watch, and one that's impressed plenty of viewers already, having landed a 90% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
If you're skipping the theaters and would prefer to watch from the comfort of your own home, we don't have a "The Long Walk" streaming date yet, but I've made an educated guess at when the movie might be able to stream at home below.
When is 'The Long Walk' coming to streaming?
“The Long Walk” hit movie theaters on September 12, so currently the only way to watch it is by heading to the nearest cinema.
Before it comes to subscription streaming services, “The Long Walk” will first head to premium video-on-demand (PVOD) storefronts like Prime Video and Apple TV.
Typically, Lionsgate’s new movies have come to PVOD services approximately three to four weeks after they hit the big screen: “Flight Risk” came to PVOD on February 14 after opening January 24, and “Ballerina” arrived July 1 after premiering in theaters on June 6.
If “The Long Walk” follows the same pattern, we can expect the digital release in mid-October 2025, likely sometime between October 7 and October 14, 2025, though nothing has been confirmed at the time of writing.
Similarly, we do not yet have a confirmed “The Long Walk” streaming date, though we at least know where “The Long Walk” will be streaming once it's available: Starz, as that's where Lionsgate movies stream first.
Right now, I'd guess the earliest that "The Long Walk" will start streaming on Starz is right at the end of 2025. Typically, we've waited around three and a half months for new movies to hit. Case in point, Starz has confirmed "Ballerina" will land on September 25, after opening June 6.
Of course, this is all speculation, and I'll be sure to update this article as and when we get a confirmed streaming date for "The Long Walk."
