January is a notoriously difficult month to conduct transfer business in - but the mid-season window takes on even greater significance this time around.
Having been the subject of a seismic, yet controversial, £305million takeover, Saudi-backed Newcastle United are now set to emerge as major players in the market.
Of course, that is something for Manchester United and Manchester City to keep an eye on moving forward.
For the time being at least, though, the relegation-threatened Magpies will be shopping for different players to the Manchester clubs and other Premier League contenders.
But who will make the biggest move come January?
Here are the key dates, times and information you need to know ahead of the 2021/2022 mid-season window;
When does the January transfer window open?
Clubs across the Premier League and further down the EFL ladder will get down to business from Saturday, January 1, 2022. Subject to change - due to TV scheduling - City are in action that day vs Arsenal.
On the other hand, United can sit back, relax and forge some early transfer plans before their match against Wolves at Old Trafford two days later.
When does the January transfer window close?
Unlike some previous seasons, the window will not stretch into February this season.
The January transfer window is set to close on Monday, January 31 - with a 11.59pm deadline actioned right throughout Europe.
What about other European leagues?
As mentioned above, the culmination of this mid-season window will be the same right across the board.
However, while clubs in England, Scotland and most of the continent will be able to kick off their winter shopping from January 1, teams in Serie A (Italy) and La Liga (Spain) won't be able to strike any deals until Monday, January 3.

Which players are likely to complete transfers?
United issued a triple statement of intent during the summer window - signing Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo - while Premier League champions City splashed out £100million on Jack Grealish from Aston Villa before missing out on England captain Harry Kane.

Kane might be subject to high-profile rumours throughout this winter, too, but big money is rarely thrown about in the January window.
Instead, players coming to the end of their contract - including United duo Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba - might be among those tracked by Premier League and European clubs.
PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe falls into that bracket, too, while Borussia Dortmund goal machine Erling Haaland has a near-€70million release clause that becomes active at some point this campaign.
