What time is the Grand National 2023, how you can watch it on TV and what time it starts

The Grand National is always one of the most anticipated dates in the British sporting calendar. The horserace, a National Hunt race, is held every year and attracts thousands of visitors to the Aintree Racecourse.

This year, the race will mark its 175th anniversary, having first been run way back in 1839. Around 10 million people in the UK watch the National each year, with hundreds of millions worldwide.

Last year, Noble Yeats - with final odds at 50/1 - won the race, with jockey Sam Waley-Cohen becoming the first amateur jockey to win the Grand National since 1990. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2023 Grand National.

When is the Grand National 2023?

The 2023 Grand National will take place on Saturday, April 15 at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. The race is part of a whole weekend of events known as the Grand National Festival, beginning with Opening Day on April 13 and Ladies’ Day on April 14 before Grand National Day on April 15.

What time is the Grand National 2023?

The race is scheduled to start at around 5.15pm on April 15. In previous years, the race has started earlier, however, this year the start time has been pushed back to avoid clashing with football fixtures playing out elsewhere during the afternoon.

How to watch the Grand National 2023?

For those who want to watch the race from their armchair, live coverage of the Grand National Festival will be broadcast on ITV. Racing fans will also be able to watch the live action via ITVX and the ITV app.

For those who prefer to get up close to the action, there are still tickets available to attend the event in person.

How to get tickets for the Grand National 2023

Tickets for the 2023 Grand National can be booked online via The Jockey Club’s website. Tickets for all three days of the Grand National festival are still available, though some sections have sold out.

Adult tickets start from £42 for the Embankment area and go up to as much as £1,095 for top-tier tickets that come with premier admission and a six-course tasting menu.
