Watford were the first team to book their spot in the last eight after Etienne Capoue's strike was enough to sink QPR at Loftus Road, while Ashley Cole's maiden competition goal proved in vain as Derby were beaten 2-1 by Brighton.

Prize money
With the prize fund for the competition having been doubled at the start of the season, clubs to reach the quarter finals will be awarded £720,000.
