When is the Championship play-off final, how can I watch it?

It's billed as the most lucrative game in football.

And well it might because the winner of the Championship play-off final between Fulham and Brentford tonight is guaranteed to be quids in, big time.

According to analysis from Deloitte’s Sports Business Group, promotion to the Premier League would hand Fulham an estimated £135million boost over the next three seasons.

The figure is even higher for Brentford, who have never once stepped foot inside the Premier League.

The Bees could bank close to £160million over the next three years if they emerge triumphant at Wembley.

A mere drop in the ocean when you consider the winning club could see their revenues rise to around £265million if they avoid relegation in their first season.

The bulk of the increase naturally comes from the slice of the mammoth TV rights pie on offer for the Premier League's 20 clubs.

Here's all you need to know ahead of the big game.

When is the Championship play-off final?

The match will take place tonight, Tuesday, August 4 at Wembley Stadium, kicking off at 7.45pm.

Is the Championship play-off final on TV?

Yes, the game will be shown live on Sky Sports, coverage starting from 7pm.

Team news

Former Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has missed out on a place in the Fulham side due to a hamstring injury.

Mitrovic top scored in the Championship with 26 goals this season.

Fulham: Rodak, Hector, Ream, Odoi, Bryan, Reed, Kamara, Onomah, Cairney, Kebano, Decordova-Reid

Brentford: Raya, Henry, Pinnock, Norgaard, Jensen, Benrahma, Watkins, Dasilva, Jansson, Mbuemo, Dalsgaard

Why would Brentford earn more cash?

Brentford would benefit more significantly from the win, alongside champions Leeds, because they do not currently receive Premier League parachute payments.

They would, therefore, be due a parachute payment were either, or both, relegated next season.

Fulham are currently in receipt of parachute payments, following relegation in 2019, therefore forgoing any future payments upon promotion to the Premier League.

How is it worked out?

The sum of £160 million for Brentford and Leeds is a combination of extra revenue they will earn from playing in the Premier League in 2020/21 (at least an extra £85 million mostly from central broadcast distributions) and parachute payments in 2021/22 and 2022/23 should they be relegated in 2021 (totalling around £75 million across the two seasons).

Given that Fulham would forgo a second parachute payment if promoted, their minimum revenue uplift would be circa £135 million.

Promoted clubs surviving their first season in the Premier League could see this figure rise to £265 million, from a second season of Premier League football alongside the guarantee of a third year of parachute payments.
