When is the Carabao Cup second-round draw? Everything Sunderland fans need to know

Sunderland are through to the second round of the Carabao Cup after a 2-1 in over League Two outfit Port Vale.

Lee Johnson is not prepared to write off the cup competitions this season, but admits that promotion at the fourth time of asking has to be the priority.

The Black Cats boss made some changes to his starting line-up at Port Vale, but a strong side got through thanks to goals from Josh Hawkes and Aiden O'Brien.

The first-round tie also gave summer signing Alex Pritchard his debut after Covid-19 disrupted his pre-season preparations.

Here is all of the key information you need to know ahead of the Carabao Cup second-round draw.

When is the draw?

The second-round draw will be held tonight (August 11) at the conclusion of the televised first-round tie between Leyton Orient and QPR.

Premier League clubs not entered into European competitions will enter the Carabao Cup at this stage - meaning Sunderland could face Newcastle United.
