When is the Carabao Cup fourth round draw as Liverpool beat Norwich City to go through

Liverpool will officially be in the pot for the fourth-round draw of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

The Reds progressed into the Carabao Cup fourth round with a 3-0 victory at Norwich after Takumi Minamino hit a brace and Caoimhin Kelleher denied Christos Tzolis from the penalty spot in the first half at Carrow Road.

Left-back Kostas Tsimikas continued to make the most of the opportunity he's been presented with in Andrew Robertson's absence and drilled a corner towards the penalty spot, where Divock Origi headed down for Minamino to shoot home on the turn from six yards after four minutes.

The Greece international then got to the byline to chip in for Origi to head into the far corner with 50 minutes played.

Minamino then added gloss to the scoreline with 10 minutes left when he dribbled into the area and poked past Angus Gunn to make it 3-0.

But Everton will not be in the draw after they were knocked out 8-7 on penalties by Queens Park Rangers after their game finished 2-2.

When is the fourth round draw?

The EFL has confirmed that the fourth-round draw for the Carabao Cup will take place after the full-time whistle blows at the Manchester United vs West Ham third-round tie – which kicks off at 7.45pm.

How to watch the Carabao Cup fourth round draw

Former Manchester City and Aston Villa defender Micah Richards will be drawing the teams alongside ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp at Potton Bowls Club in Bedfordshire.

The draw will be available to watch on Sky Sports and via the Carabao Cup's official Twitter account.

When will the fourth round be played and who will Liverpool face?

Matches for the fourth round will be played over the week commencing October 25.

With no restrictions as to who Liverpool can play, their potential opponents at this stage include Brentford, Burnley, Leeds, Man City, Preston, Stoke, Sunderland, QPR, Southampton.

Changes to this year's Carabao Cup

There have been several changes to this season's competition, including games going straight to penalties if scores are level in ties after 90 minutes in the first five rounds of the competition, with no extra-time being played until at least the semi-final stage.

The EFL has confirmed that the Carabao Cup semi-finals will revert to being two legs, after one-off games took place last season to deal with fixture congestion in a tightly-packed season due to the Covid pandemic.

It means semi-finalists will go back to playing two games, one home and one away.

The number of substitutions both sides can make in a game is three, down from the five allowed last season.

But teams will be allocated an extra sub should semi-final games and beyond go to extra-time.

The final will return to its traditional early spring date this season, and is scheduled for Sunday, February 27, at Wembley Stadium.

This season’s winners will also automatically guarantee a spot in the 2022/23 UEFA Conference League.

If Liverpool are successful in lifting the cup this season they will become the most successful club in the competition's history.

The Reds currently hold the record jointly with Manchester City, with both sides having won the competition on eight occasions.
