When is the Carabao Cup final as Manchester City book Wembley date with Tottenham

It's Tottenham vs Manchester City in this season's Carabao Cup final.

Spurs booked their place on Tuesday night as they overcame Brentford 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to goals from Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-min.

24 hours later they discovered they will be facing Man City after they beat Manchester United by the same scoreline at Old Trafford.

As a result, the first major trophy in English football will be contested by Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola - two of the most successful managers in recent years.

Jose Mourinho: Taking the League Cup seriously is the secret of my success

But when is the Carabao Cup final?

Well, this season's Carabao Cup final was slated to take place on Sunday 28 February 2021, but has now been switched to Sunday 25 April 2021.

A reason for the change is to allow as many supporters as possible inside Wembley Stadium, but much will depend on the Government's guidance come April.

A statement via the EFL website reads: "This season’s Carabao Cup Final has been rescheduled and will now take place on Sunday 25 April 2021, with a 4pm kick-off.

"It is the objective of the League to stage the Final with as many supporters in attendance as possible and the decision has therefore been taken to move the Final from its original date of Sunday 28 February 2021 to later in the year.

"The number of fans permitted will be dependent on Government guidance in place at the time and it is hoped that moving the date to later in the year will give Clubs and their fans the best opportunity to attend in person.

"The competition is set to continue this week, with the Quarter-Finals to be played across Tuesday 22 December and Wednesday 23 December, with all four games live on Sky Sports."

While moving the date opens up the possibility of fans being present inside Wembley, it does cause a problem for Spurs later in the season as Mourinho's side could well still be engaged in the Europa League with the first leg of the semi-finals to take place on Thursday, April 29.

Domestically, on the weekend of the final Spurs were due to face Fulham at Craven Cottage.

But the London derby will now have to be rearranged, whilst the reverse meeting that was scheduled to take place last week also has to be slotted into Spurs' fixture list.
