When is the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals on ITV?

Fans are finally going to get to see Britain's Got Talent back on screens after months of waiting.

The  ITV  talent series would have usually been wrapped up in May but due to the coronavirus pandemic, only the  BGT  audition stages were filmed in time and still aired as usual.

That means that the full line-up of semi-finalists need to be revealed and whittled down before the big final.

ITV has confirmed that the semi-finals will now take place over five, nail-biting – and pre-recorded - episodes before the grand final which will take place live in October.

As usual, Ant and Dec will host the shows which start on Saturday September 5 at 8pm whilst Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

However, the programme will be without its main judge Simon Cowell as he continues to recover from a bike accident in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Instead, Diversity's Ashley Banjo will take his place on the panel, more than ten years after his dance troupe won the show.

And there will be some other noticeable differences.

Some acts will take part remotely via video link whilst others will perform in the TV studio without a live audience.

As there will also be no audience for the pre-recorded show, all acts will be watched by a virtual audience – with their performances live streamed into homes across the UK and the virtual audiences' reactions then beamed into the studio on a giant screen.
