A four-day bank holiday weekend will take place to celebrate Her Majesty's 70 years on the throne.
The May bank holiday weekend was moved to Thursday, June 2, with an additional bank holiday on Friday, June 3. This will mean many people have a four-day weekend to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Activity has been built across the year in the run-up to the four day weekend that will feature an extensive programme of events.

As we are almost half way through the year, there are only a few bank holidays left in 2022. The next one (after the Jubilee weekend) falls on Monday, August 29.
After that, there are just two bank holidays left. One of these is December 26 (Boxing Day), while the other is December 27. This is because Christmas Day falls on a Sunday.
If a bank holiday is on a weekend, a "substitute" weekday becomes a bank holiday.
How many bank holidays are there in a year?
Most of the UK has eight bank holidays per year: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, May Day, late May bank holiday, Summer Bank Holiday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
As above, if a bank holiday is on a weekend, a "substitute" weekday becomes a bank holiday - usually the following Monday.
Bank holidays in 2023 are as follows:
- Monday, January 2 - New Year’s Day (substitute day)
- Friday, April 7 - Good Friday
- Monday, April 10 - Easter Monday
- Monday, May 1 - Early May bank holiday
- Monday, May 29 - Spring bank holiday
- Monday, August 28 - Summer bank holiday
- Monday, December 25 - Christmas Day
- Tuesday, December 26 - Boxing Day
