When is Scotland’s first game at World Cup 2026?

Scotland will end their 28-year wait to play in a men’s World Cup when the Tartan Army face Haiti in their opening match of the tournament.

Steve Clarke’s side may have played at back-to-back European Championships but their return to the international stage has been long awaited.

And, like in 1998, they will play Brazil and Morocco in Group C of the tournament bidding to advance to the knockout stages for the first time.

First, though, is an opening clash with Haiti in Boston, with a win potentially enough to advance as one of the best-ranked third-place teams.

Indeed, Scotland’s last win at a major men’s tournament was against Switzerland at Euro 96, now 30 years ago.
