When is Parc Trostre in Llanelli reopening? The shopping centre shares its plans

All the shops in Parc Trostre in Llanelli could be open from Monday, April 12 following a government decision to allow non-essential retail to reopen.

Shops such as TK Maxx, Sports Direct and River Island could open to customers for the first time since Wales went into lockdown on December 20, as lockdown restrictions begin to ease.

A spokesman from the shopping centre said that although it wasn’t absolutely certain that these shops will reopen, it is likely.

“As far as we know, its going to be the 12th. That’s not 100%, but obviously were following the guidelines,” he said.

Many shops at the centre have been open throughout the lockdown because they are classed as essential, such as Tesco and Wilko, while fast food outlets such as Subway and Pizza Hut have been able to offer takeaways.

But government guidelines allowing non-essential shops to reopen from April 12 mean that shoppers will now be able to go all the shops in Parc Trostre, although social distancing guidelines will remain in place.

Non-essential shops were forced to close in December, after First Minister Mark Drakeford decided to move Wales into alert level four restrictions.

At the time, Mr Drakeford said: “The situation is incredibly serious. I cannot overstate this.

“We have therefore reached the difficult decision to bring forward the alert level four restrictions for Wales, in line with the action being taken in London and the South East of England.

“These new restrictions will come into effect from midnight tonight instead of during the Christmas period.

“This will mean non-essential retail, close contact services, gyms and leisure centres and hospitality will close at the end of trading today.”
