When is Home Alone on over Christmas and how to watch it

The festive season is well and truly here, which means it’s time to curl up in front of the TV and get in the spirit with some Christmas films. One such festive favourite is the comedy classic Home Alone, which has become a yuletide tradition for many since its release more than 30 years ago.

Written by teen-movie legend John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus – who went on to direct the first two Harry Potter films – Home Alone stars a young Macaulay Culkin in his breakthrough role. It follows Kevin McCallister, a young boy who is inadvertently left behind when his family take a Christmas holiday to Paris.

While left ‘Home Alone’, eight-year-old Kevin fights to protect his suburban Chicago home from two burglars known as The Wet Bandits – played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern – and uses an array of inventive booby traps to fend off the home invaders. The film proved a box office smash, spawned several sequels and cemented itself as a festive tradition for families around the world.
