When is GCSE results day - Important dates and details

Thousands of school pupils across Merseyside are set to receive their GCSE results this month.

For the second year in a row, exams were cancelled in schools due to Coronavirus, but grades will still be given out by teachers.

These grades will be decided by the teachers and will be based on a number of different factors. This will include how well pupils have performed in mock exams, in-class tests and in coursework.

16-year-olds in England will be hoping they’ve got the results they need to move onto either further studies at A-levels or onto an apprenticeship scheme.

After issues with the same process being used last year to hand out grades, there is hope that the system will be much more streamlined this year.

A number of people had their results changed after their results day last summer due to issues with the grading process.

GCSE results day for people in England & Wales is Thursday, August 12.

This date is nearly two weeks earlier than the usual results day.

This is to allow for more time for students to appeal their teacher-given results in time for the new academic year in September, if they feel they have been unfairly graded.
