When is GCSE results day and can you get your grades online?

The moment of truth has almost arrived for young people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset who sat their GCSE exams earlier this year.

It has been two months since 16-year-olds across the UK last put pen to paper under the gaze of invigilators.

Most teenagers will no doubt have tried to push those memories to the back of their minds in order to enjoy the fine summer weather.

But on Thursday (August 22), schools will fling open their doors to pupils again so they can learn their grades.

The recently revamped GSCE system means grades are ranked from 9-1, with grades 8 and 9 being the equivalent of the old A* and a grade 4 equating to a C in old money.

Generally pupils will be able to visit their schools from 10am on results day.

Some young people, however, will have signed up to receive their results by email because they are unable to attend.

Last week older pupils across the region picked up their A Level results with the hope they achieved enough to confirm their apprenticeship or college or university place.
