Here's when 'F1' is streaming on Apple TV

Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce and Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes in Apple Original Films’ “F1 The Movie.".

Brad Pitt's "F1" movie raced onto the scene as one of the summer's most anticipated blockbuster releases and went on to become one of the biggest movies of the year at the box office.

The Apple Original sports drama saw "greatest that never was" Formula 1 racer Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) recruited by an ex-teammate (Javier Bardem) to help bring his struggling Formula 1 franchise, APXGP, back from the brink, decades after Sonny was in the racing game.

Sonny takes him up on the offer, but starts to butt heads with the team's hotshot youngster, Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), who isn't exactly thrilled to be sharing the limelight with the old-timer. In other words, "F1" is a sports movie that packs in plenty of drama both on and off the track.

"F1" went on to be well-liked by critics but especially fellow moviegoers— it's 82% from critics but 97% from fans on Rotten Tomatoes — and my colleague Malcolm McMillan went so far as to proclaim it "the movie of the summer" earlier in the year.

If you missed it in theaters, or you've been itching to revisit "F1: The Movie" at home, you'll be pleased to know that "F1" finally has a streaming date on Apple TV. Here's when it'll be available to watch from the comfort of your own sofa.

When is 'F1' coming to streaming?

"F1" premiered in US theaters on June 27, 2025, and subsequently came to Premium Video-on-Demand platforms like Prime Video and Apple's storefront on August 22, 2025.

We've been waiting for a streaming release date for "F1" for some time, and we've got good and bad news on that front. The good news is that Apple has finally told us when "F1" will come to Apple TV (formerly Apple TV Plus).

As for the bad news: that release is still a ways off, as "F1" won't be available to stream on Apple TV until Friday, December 12.

So, if you want to watch "F1" at home, you'll need to buy or rent it on a digital storefront, or continue to wait until December brings the sports movie to the small screen ahead of the holiday period.

That's also later than I expected "F1" to arrive, too. Granted, it's pretty tricky to predict when Apple Original Films start streaming, as the wait times for previous Apple movies have varied significantly.

For example, we waited 100 days for Ridley Scott's "Napoleon" to come to streaming, 84 days for "Killers of the Flower Moon", and just 70 days for "Argylle" to come to Apple's streaming service.

However, it took Greg Berlanti's underrated period romantic comedy "Fly Me to the Moon" a little over four months to hit the streamer.... and by the time "F1" arrives, we'll have waited over five months for it to come home.
