When is DIY SOS on TV next and will Nick Knowles be back?

By Kathryn Williams

DIY:SOS returned in November 2021 for a Children in Need Big Build with Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert at the helm, instead of regular presenter Nick Knowles.

Nick has presented the show for more than 20 years, but this year had to step back from the BBC show after appearing in an advert for Shreddies which breached his contract with the corporation.

The one-off charity special saw viewers wonder where Nick was, and also, if the show was coming back for a series, whether the frontman was to remain absent.

Nick got into hot water over the advert as he is seen as a builder and under BBC editorial guidelines actors and artists are banned from appearing in promotional work "in a way which mimics or replicates their on-air roles for the BBC."

The questions on everyone's lips are, when is DIY:SOS coming back and will Nick be on board?

When is DIY:SOS back on TV?

It will return in 2022 for sure.

The team have been filming transformations for DIY: SOS The Big Build in both Bristol and Hull during September and October 2021.

We don't know exactly when they will air, but we'll update you as soon as there's an airdate. Though, we do know it will be in 2022, as a statement from the BBC regarding Nick's absence, states. You can see more on that below.

Will Nick Knowles return to present DIY:SOS?

The answer is yes, he will.

At the time of the Shreddies drama a joint statement the BBC and Nick said: “Both Nick and the BBC have resolved the issue recently reported relating to Nick’s commercial agreements and BBC guidelines.

“With the campaign still running, Nick will step back from the DIY SOS Children In Need special this year but will be back on our screens in 2022.”
