When is Comic Relief 2022 and how to buy a Red Nose

Red Nose Day is back for its 36th year, raising money to help end child poverty in the UK and around the world.

Until 2021, Red Nose Day was held every other year, but now it will be held annually.

The run-up to the big day usually involves fundraising events across the UK for charity Comic Relief.

TV specials are also aired throughout the week, concluding with a live Comic Relief telethon, hosted by co-founder Lenny Henry.

In 2021, an amazing £52,025,485 was raised and more than £1 billion has been drummed up since Red Nose Day began.

When is Red Nose Day 2022?

This year's telethon will take place on Friday, March 18, from 7pm.

It will be broadcast live from MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Alongside Sir Lenny Henry, hosting the charity event will be Zoe Ball, Paddy McGuinness, Alesha Dixon and David Tennant.

Joel Dommett and AJ Odudu will also be joining the line-up.

The three-hour long comedy special will feature hilarious sketches, live performances and big surprises from stars across TV, film and music.

You'll also be able to catch up on BBC iPlayer.

Where can you buy a Red Nose?

The most popular way to support the cause is to buy one of the iconic bright red noses to wear on the day. All of the money made goes straight to the charity.

You can bag yourself a Red Nose Day red nose in Sainsbury's stores as well as online.

Each one costs £1.50, with at least 75p going to Comic Relief.

The Sainsbury's Group is the official merchandising partner for Comic Relief with lots of other little bits sold in store - from mugs to badges - during the run-up to March 18.

Schools can pre-order a box of noses from the Comic Relief site, with a box of 40 Noses costing £60, with at least £30 going directly to the charity.

How else can you get involved?

There are plenty of ways to get involved with Red Nose Day.

One of the easiest ways is to donate is on the night as you will be able to call and text in while the Comic Relief show broadcasts on television.

If you fancy getting your fundraising game on, you can register online now by visiting the Comic Relief website.

You will be asked to provide your details - such as name and contact number - as well as a little bit about your fundraising ideas for this year's charity event.

TK Maxx has also teamed up with eleven artists to create a collection of ‘Red Nose Day chari-tee’ t-shirts, as well as selling a selection of branded aprons, tote bags, notebooks, tea towels, prints, greetings cards, and art cards.

All of the profits from these items will also go towards to fundraising efforts, reports Wales Online.
