When is Coco Gauff vs Emma Raducanu? Start time and how to watch Italian Open last-16 match today

Coco Gauff and Emma Raducanu meet in a high-profile last-16 match at the Italian Open today, with a place in the quarter-finals on the line in Rome.

It is only the second time that two of the biggest young stars in tennis have ever gone head to head on the WTA Tour, with Gauff winning their previous meeting in straight sets 6-3 7-6 in the second round of the 2023 Australian Open.

American Gauff won her first Grand Slam as a teenager at the US Open later that year, following in the footsteps of Raducanu’s remarkable achievement at the same tournament in 2021.

The pair have had contrasting fortunes over recent years, with Gauff sustaining a high level and currently ranked at No3 in the world, while Raducanu has been working her way back from persistent injury issues and struggled to find the right coach as she sits just inside the top 50.

But Raducanu has been looking far more comfortable on clay of late, beating Maya Joint to open her Italian Open campaign before adjusting to defeat late replacement opponent Jil Teichmann and then recovering from a set down to oust Veronika Kudermetova on Sunday.

That teed up an intriguing contest against previous French Open finalist Gauff, who is dangerous on clay and lost to world No1 Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling Madrid Open showpiece earlier this month.

The 21-year-old had a bye through the first round in Rome, where she is the fourth seed, bouncing back from an early deficit to beat Victoria Mboko and then toppling 32nd seed Magda Linette in round three.
