When is Citadel released on Amazon and who's in the cast with Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra?

Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden will be starring in Amazon Studios' new global series Citadel from Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo.

Chopra, 37, and Madden, 34, are the first cast members to be announced by Amazon Studios during their TCA Winter Tour panel on Tuesday in Pasadena.

Amazon previously announced the then-untitled series from Russo brothers in 2018.

By 2019, they revealed it was a spy show with international spin-offs in the local language.

Now called Citadel, Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, announced the first two actors cast in the series.

Specific plot details, beyond the fact that the series will revolve around the world of espionage, are still under wraps, but the show is expected to have a large production.

The writing team for the show includes Mission Impossible writers Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner (Venom), and Scott Rosenberg (High Fidelity).

While no further details have been given on the characters they're playing, both Chopra and Madden will headline the “mothership” series in the States that will launch a global franchise.

Amazon Studios have announced local productions to be set in Italy and India, and they announced another local production in Mexico this week.

The Italian series will be co-produced with Amazon Studios and Cattleya (Gomorrah), part of ITV Studios.

The Indian series will be developed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. and produced with Amazon Studios.

Amazon explained: “All of the local series are meant to enhance the entire entertainment experience and will be available for the viewer to deep dive into an imagined layered world.”

The show is said to be an action-packed spy series which will be anchored by the U.S.-based show that will then branch out to several local productions set in different areas all over the world.
