When is Buffering on ITV2 - Love Island's Iain Stirling to star in new sitcom

Love Island's Iain Stirling is writing and starring in a new ITV sitcom about “the daily challenges of millennial living”.

The Scotsman, who wrote Buffering with Steve Bugeja, has described it as a “dream come true”.

Stirling is a comedian and TV presenter whose other credits include CelebAbility, The Russell Howard Tour, Taskmaster, and The Dog Ate My Homework. He is married to Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore.

Bugeja and Stirling have previously worked together on The Dog Ate My Homework and CelebAbility.

When is Buffering on ITV2 and what time?

Buffering is set to air with a double episode on ITV2 at 10pm on Thursday, August 5, with the entire box set landing on ITV Hub immediately after.

What is Buffering about?

The subjects of the show are a group of twenty-somethings navigating the “daily challenges of millennial living”, now that they’ve hit “that age where they’re too old for nightclubs but too poor for mortgages.”

The show depicts a 20-something children's TV presenter called Iain (played by Stirling) who is in a complicated relationship with a TV producer called Olivia (Elena Saurel).

Iain lives with flatmates called Rosie, Ashley, Greg and Thalia as well as Ashley's ex-boyfriend Robbie.

There will be several special guests cameos throughout the series from names such as Lolly Adefope (This Time With Alan Partridge, Shrill, Ghosts), Vicky Pattison (I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, Celebrity Masterchef), Michael Spicer (The Room Next Door, The Late Late Show with James Corden).

How many episodes of Buffering are there?

The series will have six episodes, with each lasting 30 minutes.

Having previously worked in comedy and script writing, this production has been something of a labour of love for Iain Stirling, who posted on his Twitter account: "Real dream come true stuff. Buffering coming to ITV2 this Aug.

"It’s really good, I worked so hard and have had the best people work on it. So lucky to have the cast and crew we had.

"And the biggest of shout outs to my co creator Steve, the real brains of the outfit (I’m the good looking one). Get it watched."
