When is Brian Cox's new series Universe on TV and what to expect from the BBC show

English physicist and former musician Professor Brian Cox takes us on a trip to the universe with the new documentary series, Universe.

Universe comes after Professor Cox’s previous documentary series Human Universe, which aired earlier this year and explored our origins, place and destiny in the universe.

Cox has become a poster boy for the scientific community - mainly known for his appearances in BBC’s QI and fronting series’ including the Horizon and The Planets.

When is Brian Cox’s new series Universe on TV?

Universe begins on BBC Two on Wednesday, 27 October at 9pm

The series unfolds in five episodes and will air every week for five weeks, or alternatively can be viewed on BBC iPlayer after its air date.

What is Brian Cox’s new series Universe about?

Cox explores the vastness of the universe through five episodes, telling the stories of some of the epic moments that defined the universe we know today.

Using state-of-the-art animation to recreate the chaos which ensued when two galaxies collided, the show demonstrates the power of a supermassive black hole.

The epic evolution of the universe from its moment of inception 13.7 billion years ago will also be represented using CGI, scientific research and archive footage from space missions.
