When is Black Friday in 2019 and what is Black Friday?

While Black Friday may well have had its heyday of aggressive shopping scrums, retailers are still promoting the bargain hunting bonanza this year.

Black Friday is a shopping tradition imported from the USA, which is said to be the day retailers get into the 'black' for the year by shifting as much stock as possible to pre-Christmas shoppers.

There are often cut-price deals on tech, including TVs, games consoles, and audio systems. Toys and fashion are also regulary Black Friday deals, as are many items which may not be Christmas presents, but are useful to get a discount on, such as white goods and vacuum cleaners.

Retailers put offers online and in-store, with some branches opening early to cater for the rush.

So if you're looking to grab some discounts ahead of Christmas , set some money aside and save this date.

When is Black Friday 2019?

As always, Black Friday falls the day after Americans celebrate Thanksgiving.

So this year, Black Friday is on Friday November 29, 2019 - although some retailers do start their sales early, including Amazon, which is eight days of Black Friday deals between November 22 and November 29.
