When is 'Anaconda' streaming? Here's when you can watch it at home

Jack Black and Paul Rudd in Anaconda (2025).

Some ideas should probably stay in the group chat. In 2025's "Anaconda," some aging (and bumbling) friends decide the cure for their collective burnout is finally making the movie of their dreams, a remake of 1997's Jennifer Lopez flick of the same name. The plan is simple enough: Head into the Amazon, shoot a crappy remake of their favorite creature feature, and relive the glory days. What could possibly go wrong?

Pretty much everything, and then some. It's not always a good idea to act on those strikes of brilliance that end up happening when you're contemplating how (poorly) your life has gone, and this movie proves it.

If the thought of Jack Black and Paul Rudd spiraling through a self-aware creature feature sounds like your thing, you’re probably already wondering when you can watch it from the safety of your couch. While "Anaconda" isn’t streaming on a major subscription service just yet, it will be available to buy or rent at home first, with streaming to follow later. Here's what we know about when you can stream "Anaconda" at home.

When can we expect the 'Anaconda' streaming release?

Right now, "Anaconda" is still playing in theaters, as it just arrived there on December 25 for holiday audiences. We're only about a week out from its Christmas premiere, so it's still going to be in theaters for a while. If you want to see it, heading to the cinema is your best bet for now.

If you’d rather wait to watch it at home, "Anaconda" is expected to follow the same Sony deal with Netflix that we've seen in the past, meaning it will go to streaming after its theatrical and digital windows.

It should arrive as a digital release to buy or rent in the next month, likely around February 2026, on platforms like Prime Video or Apple TV.

Based on the typical 120-day gap Sony movies have before hitting Netflix under their agreement, the earliest "Anaconda" could arrive on Netflix in the United States is around April 2026. So you've got a little time to wait still before you'll be able to stream "Anaconda."

What is 'Anaconda' about?

It may not be clear from the outset, but this snake-centric creature feature is no reboot. It's an entirely different movie made as a comedy homage to the original 1997 flick starring Jennifer Lopez. It follows a pair of childhood friends who are all a little stuck and somewhat desperate to feel young again. And one of their greatest dreams has been to make their own reboot of their favorite movie, "Anaconda."

When Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd) convince themselves they can finally make the movie together, they head into the Amazon to shoot what’s supposed to be their scrappy, low-budget remake. It’s meant to be fun. It’s meant to be nostalgic. It's definitely not meant to be dangerous. But naturally, everything goes wrong.

The snake they hired dies, the jungle is way less forgiving than they expected, and they start hating each other. But then there's the biggest problem of all: an actual giant anaconda that doesn’t care about their movie, their midlife crises, or their little fights. They've got to figure out how to get away from it before they come out of the Amazon rainforest with more than wounded pride and empty pockets.
