What is Reclaiming Amy about?
The 60-minute long programme will include interviews with Amy’s mum, Janis Winehouse-Collins, who has never spoken in depth about her daughter but wants to remember and celebrate her as a complex, strong and independent woman.
She also wants to tell a different version of Amy’s story, compared to the one told so often about her and the documentary will include access to never-before-seen family archives, as well as rare musical performances of Amy.
The singer was born Amy Jade Winehouse on September 14th 1983, at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield and went on to become one of Britain’s best-loved musician’s, winning a Brit Award in 2007 and five Grammy’s in 2008.

She was known for her incredible music, such as popular hit “Rehab” and her instantly recognisable beehive hairdo.
Amy was also known in both the arts and charity communities for her generosity and this is a side that her family want the public to see, as well as offering a new interpretation of her life, the people and things she loved and her legacy.
The music icon’s Mum, Janis suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, meaning she may eventually lose her memory and this is one of the reasons that inspired her to create the documentary.

The one-part documentary will be aired on Friday, July 23rd at 9pm on BBC Two and is said to be a personal and powerful account of the life and death of the talented and loved musician.
