When Harry met Ben in AFL twin battle

The twin battle is finally on with Coleman Medal leader Harry McKay to tackle brother Ben when Carlton face off against North Melbourne.

The McKays were both drafted in 2015 but form and injury have stopped the pair from playing against each other until now.

But with both players in career-best form, Harry and Ben will go head-to-head on Saturday at Marvel Stadium.

Ben, along with Josh Walker, will have the difficult task of keeping the Blues spearhead quiet after fellow key North defender Robbie Tarrant (adductor) was ruled out.

Harry has booted 52 goals this season, 10 clear of the AFL's next best forward, Adelaide veteran Taylor Walker, and it would take a serious form slump for him not to claim his first Coleman Medal.

Kangaroos coach David Noble admitted he had given serious thought to playing Ben on Harry.

"We've got a couple of good defenders down there, but there will definitely be a time where they're on each other," Noble said.

"There's no escaping that. Whether or not we'll set the brothers for each other, it's yet to be determined.

"The way our defence moves sometimes, it does have flexibility and you need to cover different roles.

"But there will be a point in time where they're playing on each other."

Carlton coach David Teague attempted to downplay the twin match-up, declaring the Blues midfield simply had to deliver Harry enough quality ball inside-50.

"I think that Harry is such a professional player, he'll go out there regardless of who the opponent is and be the best that he can be," Teague said.

The Blues will be determined to make it four wins from five matches as they launch an unlikely bid to play finals and will have extra motivation against bottom-of-the-ladder North, with club stalwart Ed Curnow to run out for his 200th match.

Carlton have been bolstered by the return of co-captain Patrick Cripps after one week out, while former skipper Marc Murphy will only be considered for the medi-sub role as he chases four more appearances to reach the 300-game milestone.

North welcome back Jed Anderson for his first match since suffering an ankle injury in round three as well as tough midfielder Ben Cunnington, who missed last week due to family reasons.
