When hairdressers, salons and barbers will reopen in 2021 - latest updates

Hairdressers have closed in compliance with Covid-19 regulations as the UK is currently in lockdown.

Salons and barbershops are not open at present because they are classed as non-essential businesses.

Many people are desperate for them to re-open with home haircuts in lockdown providing mixed results.

There are a number of key days when the nation could find out when non-essential businesses will be able to re-open.

Boris Johnson will review lockdown on February 15 with the results announced a week later on February 22, reports Birmingham Live.

A plan for reopening schools is set to be unveiled on February 25. And it's thought March 8 is the earliest date when other measures may be lifted.

So as it stands, it looks like salons and barbers will be shut until at least March 8.

The indication from the Government is that tiered restrictions will be reintroduced - but at a national level rather than local.

Hairdressers and barbers were allowed to stay open in all tiers under the previous three-tier system.

But they were forced to close in Tier 4 areas when that additional level of restrictions was introduced at the end of December.

In Northern Ireland, some believe barbers and hairdressers will not reopen until mid-April at least.

It comes after a shock announcement from Leo Varadkar, the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, that stylists and beauticians would only be allowed to trade again "way later" than March 5.
