Emerson Royal will arrive at Tottenham Hotspur later this week following his 30m euros move from Barcelona and he will be able to immediately get to work with Nuno Espirito Santo.
Spurs have snapped up the 22-year-old, who will wear the number 12, from the Catalan giants for a fee that is believed to be worth 25m euros and another 5m euros in add-ons.
The Brazilian is currently in Spain, having completed his medical over there, and is expected to arrive at Hotspur Way to begin training later this week, subject to international clearance and a work permit.
As was the case with Cristian Romero, football.london understands that Emerson, who signed a five-year deal with the club, will not have to isolate when he arrives in the UK due to his vaccination status.
Emerson enjoyed a fine season at Real Betis before arriving at Barcelona this summer, with the two Spanish clubs having entered into a joint purchase agreement to sign him from Atletico Mineiro in 2019.
However, the Catalan club's financial situation left an opportunity for Tottenham's managing director of football Fabio Paratici to travel to Barcelona to negotiate a deal for the young Sao Paulo-born defender and convince the player of the move in the process.
Emerson's arrival will mean Tottenham have four right-backs at the club in Japhet Tanganga, Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty.
Attempts to move Aurier or Doherty on during transfer deadline day have thus far proved fruitless, despite Aurier's desire to leave the club.
