What changed in Dominik Szoboszlai £60m discussions as Liverpool close in on next summer signing

If the portion of Liverpool's fanbase perplexed by the apparent lack of transfer progress was beginning to swell as July approached, the emergence Dominik Szoboszlai has highlighted their folly.

It's fair to reflect a growing number of supporters were becoming more disgruntled by the silence at the front of house of the AXA Training Centre since Alexis Mac Allister traded Brighton & Hove Albion for Liverpool inside the first week of June.

Links to a quartet of players at the Under-21s European Championships have rumbled on in the background but as Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Manchester City all made significant moves of their own, there was certainly some growing discontent if social media was being used as the temperature gauge.

The speed at which a deal is being done with RB Leipzig for Szoboszlai, however, should at least replenish the reserves of patience and trust further down the line. For some, anyway.

Dominik Szoboszlai set for Liverpool transfer after £60m release clause met

Liverpool last night told RB Leipzig they will trigger the £60m release clause that will enable them to sign Dominik Szoboszlai.

In a development that is a major step towards the Hungary captain moving to Anfield, the Reds informed the German club on Friday as the terms of clause entered its final hours.

Liverpool held a productive meeting with the player's representatives earlier this week before making an official approach to the Bundesliga side on Friday.

Szoboszlai had a release clause inserted into his contract that was set at £60m, but its June 30 expiration date meant that the Reds were made to act quickly to secure the deal.
