When does the transfer window close and the business Cardiff City and Swansea City can do after deadline day

The 2019/20 Championship season is well underway.

And the new Premier League campaign is just around the corner too.

With that comes the end of the summer transfer window.

But when exactly does the market shut and can deals be done after the deadline?

Here's everything you need to know.

When does the transfer window shut?

The market for the Premier League and the Championship shuts at 5pm on Thursday, August 8.

As for League One and League Two, their windows remain open until 5pm on Monday, September 2.

What does it mean for Cardiff and Swansea?

Swansea are keen to offload the likes of Andre Ayew and Jefferson Montero this summer while Loic Damour, Lee Tomlin and Greg Cunningham are among those who would depart Cardiff City Stadium.

And clubs can still sell players to other nations if the window in that country remains open.

They can also send players to teams in League One or League Two.

It means the Bluebirds and the Swans could still sell players after this week's deadline.

The transfer windows in France, Spain, Russia, Scotland, Belgium, Turkey and Germany shut on August 31, while Italy’s transfer window concludes on August 18.
