When does the summer transfer window open and close?

Clubs across the Premier League and Europe have finalised their transfer business for the 2021/2022 season.

Manchester United were particularly active during the summer transfer window - signing Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo - but January centred on outgoings as Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial were among those to complete temporary moves away from Old Trafford.

Julian Alvarez was brought in by neighbours Manchester City as they followed up a £100million summer swoop for England playmaker Jack Grealish with one mid-season addition.

The window slammed shut at 11pm on Monday night and further would-be deals must now be put on ice.

Here are key dates, times and information you need to know ahead of the 2022/2023 summer transfer window;

When does the summer transfer window open?

Clubs across the Premier League and further down the EFL ladder will get down to business from Friday, July 1 as attentions turn the 2022/2023 season. Of course, there is no major international competition to contend with this summer, so that should ensure a smoother process when it comes to negotiations.

When does the summer transfer window close?

Although there is no official confirmation from the Premier League, as thing stands, previous windows have closed at 11pm on August 31. With that date falling on a Wednesday, there ought to be no reason governing bodies would look to move that, either.

Remember to revisit the Manchester Evening News website for when that cut-off is rubber-stamped.

What about other European leagues?

Similarly to the above, final details have yet to be released for the summer transfer window. As was the case with the January transfer window, though, a universal deadline appears to be the most likely option, even if start dates for conducting business might vary across Europe and internationally.
