When does the January transfer window open?

The focus is firmly on deadline day as clubs from around the Premier League and the EFL run around attempting to complete deals before the 5pm close of play.

But this is not the only period of time in which sides can make an impact on the 2019/20 campaign by signing new players and letting others go.

The January transfer window may seem like a long distance away at the moment but it will soon creep up on us as teams complete some of the business they may not have been able to get done this summer.

There will also be plenty of transfer links which come out of nowhere ahead of January, with performances around Europe closely monitored by scouts aplenty and there are also loan deals for the rest of the season which crop up after the turn of the year.

But when does the January window open and close? Here is the information you need to know.

The winter transfer window opens on January 1 as soon as the new year begins and it will close on January 31 provisionally. The time is yet to be announced, but a 5pm deadline has been reported.
