Sue Perkins is best known for her hilarious humour and her role in The Great British Bake Off presenting with long time pal Mel Geidroyc.

Since GBBO the actress, comedian and author has made endeavours in her own solo career by travelling the world and seeing how other people live their lives.

Wide-eyed Perkins has visited India and Japan and is now embarking on travelling to America for a new Channel 4 series where she explores the living style of Nomads.

Viewers see Perkins' journey from a complete novice to somewhat experienced in the van lifestyle popular in Nomad living.

When does Sue Perkins Big American Road Trip start?

The first instalment of the two-part documentary airs on Channel 4 at 9 pm on Sunday 16 January. The following episode airs on Sunday 23 January.

Both episodes will be available on All4.

What can viewers expect from the new series?

Perkins will be travelling to California and Colorado to meet Americans who have opted for 'van life' to see how they thrive in this new way of living.

Perkins has said she liked the "freedom" of living in a van and in the show is seen trying out living in a vehicle.

The 52-year-old also climbs rocks and meets YouTubers to ask about living on the road and earning through creating videos.

The rise of Nomad living is already here and Perkins is engrossed by the idea by the end of her trip.
