When does Love Island Australia start? How to watch ITV2's Love Island replacement

Love Island is back! Sort of.

There will be no brand new summer season of ITV2’s hit reality show due to the coronavirus crisis, but fans can watch the first series of Love Island Australia.

The news means that fans do not have to wait until 2021 for more bombshells from the villa, with Australian version described as racier and more dramatic than the original.

The promo for the Australian series promises: “Bring on the Bombshells, the Bromances and a little bit of Naughty Naughty!

“It’s the Love Island you love, just with a different accent. Bring it on!”

When does Love Island Australia start?

Love Island Australia will be aired every night on ITV2, in exactly the same way as the UK version is normally shown.

The first episode will be broadcast at 9pm on Monday June 15.

As with the British version, fans can tune in each night as the Australian islanders couple up, deal with bombshell arrivals and attempt to bag the $50,000 prize.

Love Island Australia presenter

While British fans have watched Caroline Flack and Laura Whitmore present the British version, Love Island Australia’s host is Sophie Monk.

The 40-year-old is no stranger to reality TV, having found fame in the Australian series Popstars.

Monk, who was 19 at the time, was selected to join the group Bardot, whose debut album and single both topped the Australian charts.

Since the band split in 2002, she’s continued with her solo career and returned to reality TV by being a judge on Australia’s Got Talent, winning The Celebrity Apprentice Australia and starring in The Bachelorette Australia.

The UK version of Love Island wouldn’t be the same without Iain Stirling ’s sassy commentary.

For the Australian version, Irish presenter Eoghan McDermott is in the booth.

The 37-year-old - who has presented Ireland’s version of The Voice and used to front xfm’s drivetime show, will be cracking the jokes and telling viewers who is cracking on with who, which islanders are dating and those who are feuding.
